Steve McQueen personified the “anti-hero” in Hollywood with the perfect balance of allegiance and rebellion. America saw the bad in McQueen and loved him anyway. Steve McQueen became a household name, and his image was forged through his character’s detached, mysterious, and unconventional ways. He was nicknamed was “the King of Cool” – which allied with his ruggedly suave style both on-set adventures and in his personal life. McQueen was trademarked by his original double arrow Persol sunglasses and a pair of leather biker boots.
